PRESS RELEASE
Some big changes are coming to The Morro Bay Art Association. As of May 01, the name of the MBAA Gallery on Main Street will become, ART CENTER - Morro Bay. A new exterior paint scheme and signage will herald the new look.
The MBAA Board of Directors decided that the gallery needed to update its name and appearance to be more consistent with its role as the public’s center for the fine arts in Morro Bay. In addition to having one of the largest gallery spaces on the coast, the ART CENTER manages Art in the Park, The Photo Expo, and is the site of many art related events during the year, including public shows, children’s art, workshops, classes, demonstrations, and the annual Scholarship Show, which features SLO County high school and college student artists.
Given its role in the community, it makes sense to call it what it, in fact is, the ART CENTER - Morro Bay. The Morro Bay Art Association will continue to have its offices at the ART CENTER.
The change also coincides with the coming 60th Anniversary of the MBAA next year.
The official “unveiling” of the ART CENTERs’ new look will occur on Sunday, 02 May, at 2 PM. A short ceremony and reception will be held. This will be followed by May’s featured artist (Jason Mayr) reception at 3PM until 5PM, so it will be a festive afternoon at the ART CENTER - Morro Bay, 835 Main St. The public is invited.
